PRESIDENT
Steve Cecil
Steve Cecil is currently a Transportation Planner for Beam, Longest and Neff, LLC. He has a BS in Biology from Simpson College and an MS in Botany, Plant Ecology from Iowa State University. Steve has been a conservation/wildlife advocate for nearly 45 years, applying his skills and energies in both the private and public sectors. Steve was the INDOT representative on the Natural Resources Commission for 10 years and has been employed by Amax Coal Company, Parsons Transportation Group and Earth Tech Environmental Services.
FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT
Glenn Lange
Glenn Lange is currently a Natural Resource Conservationist with the Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District (MCSWCD). Glenn works on soil erosion and sedimentation, water quality and quantity, and wildlife management issues for the residents of Indianapolis and Marion County. Prior to the MCSWCD position, Glenn worked for 32 years in a variety of positions in the Division of Fish and Wildlife, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, including District Wildlife Biologist, Wildlife Staff Specialist, Public Affairs Unit Supervisor and Chief of the Wildlife Section. Glenn holds a BS degree in Wildlife Science from Purdue University and two professional certifications, Certified Wildlife Biologist (CWB) and Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC).

Adam McLane
Adam McLane is currently the Director of Operations for The Nature Conservancy’s Indiana Chapter. He has a BS in Marketing from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Adam worked in the for-profit business world for 10 years before transitioning to the non-profit conservation sector. His enthusiasm for the protection of wildlife and wild places stems from a lifelong love of the outdoors and the recreation and enjoyment it has provided him and his family.
AT-LARGE DIRECTORS
Chuck Brinkman
Chuck Brinkman has been on the Indiana Wildlife Federation board for several years. He is also on the boards of Indiana Smallmouth Alliance, Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation, and Barbee Lakes Property Owners Association. Chuck is also very active with the Eagle Creek Watershed Foundation. He is very familiar with water and climate-related challenges in Indiana. Anything enticed via the end of a flyrod is high priority.
Chuck worked in network consulting for IBM and retired after 31 years. He has a BS in math science from the University of Dayton and an MS in math from Purdue.
John Bunner
John is a past Board member for the Indiana Smallmouth Alliance. John has been a contributing member of the Farmland Conservation Club, Indiana Wildlife Federation and a founding member of the Indiana Smallmouth Alliance. John has a longstanding family connection to the land and enjoys both river fishing and all aspects of hunting and outdoors activities. John's primary focus is on water quality and access.
Dr. David Hoffman
David W. Hoffman is a retired corporate VP who is serving as IWF’s National Wildlife Federation Representative. Prior to retirement, he was responsible for all environmental issues of a large Midwestern corporation. During his career he hosted several International conferences and was a presenter, guest speaker, and panelist at numerous professional and technical meetings related to environmental science and legislation, and corporate environmental responsibility. He also serves on the Boards of Hoosier Outdoor Writers (HOW), Central Indiana Technical and Environmental Societies (CITES), Chipper Woods Bird Observatory, and the Indiana Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA). Dr. Hoffman earned a B.S. in Natural Resources and Environmental Management at Ball State, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Health from the University of Minnesota.
Gene Hopkins
Gene has held many positions in sporting and conservation organizations over the years and is currently President of the Indiana Sportsman's Roundtable. Gene has also held the positions of President and Legislative Chairman for the Indiana Bowhunter's Association, as well as being a past member of the Board of Directors for the National Bowhunter Education Foundation (NBEF). Gene is a Patron Member of the NRA, Regular member of the Pope & Young Club (P&Y Club), life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and National Bowhunter Education Foundation, Indiana Bowhunter's Association and Idaho Bowhunters, and holds regular membership in many more state organizations in Indiana and across the nation. Additional accomplishments include being a Master Instructor for the NBEF, the founder of IBA's Youth Camps, which have operated continuously for over 25 years, as well as a co-founder of the P&Y Clubs Discover the Outdoors Camps for single parent children.
Ray McCormick
Ray McCormick is a 4th generation farmer, and a lifelong passion for conservation has made caring for our nations resources and inspiring others to do the same his life’s work. He raises corn, wheat, and soybeans using a 100% no-till on 2,000 acres and utilize cover crops on the majority of these acreages. Ray has a peach orchard from which he markets tree ripened peaches at his farm and at the local farmers market. Ray has a wetland restoration construction business and has been involved in the restoration of over 12,000 acres of wetlands in 4 states. An owner of over a 1,000 acres of wetlands and 1,000 acres of woods, Ray specializes in creating wildlife habitat, prairie restoration, wetland restoration, migratory bird habitat and enjoy helping other landowners to do the same. Ray has a waterfowl hunting business and his 3 labs help him spend the winters guiding waterfowl hunters. Ray's motto is; “I never say no when it comes to conservation”.
Dan Smith
Dan Smith is a retired educator from the South Bend Community School Corporation. He taught middle school science for 17 years and was the planetarium director for 22 years. He has a BS in Education from Manchester College, a MS in Education from Indiana University and a MS in Earth Science from the University of Notre Dame. After moving to Bremen, he became active in the Bremen Conservation Club and got them involved in the River Watch Program due to his interest in water quality. He first became active in IWF as a Regional Vice-President and then served as secretary for 8 years.
Steve Van Zant
Steve Van Zant is a retiree from Baxter Healthcare Corporation. He spent his career in sales and marketing in the fields of clinical pathology and life science research. He has a B.S. degree in Marketing from Indiana University. Steve has found a passion for environmental causes in his retirement. Besides the IWF, he is also an active volunteer with the Indiana Native Plant and Wildflower Society (INPAWS) and the Central Indiana Land Trust (CILTI). His focus within IWF lies in habitat development and diversity as well as youth involvement with nature.
